ABOUT SWANSEA CENTRAL:

Swansea Central is the core element of the transformation of Swansea city centre with Phase 1 seen as the major catalyst for future development, centred on a new, iconic, digitally advanced, 3,500 capacity live entertainment venue and conference centre.

The venue will be set in the first urban park created since Victorian times and is linked to the city centre via a dramatic new pedestrian bridge. Fundamental to the masterplan is to enhance the connectivity of the city core to the outstanding Swansea Bay.

Ambassador Theatre Group has been secured to operate the venue, whilst additionally the scheme provides, extensive new public realm, a hotel, 33 residential units, new A3 uses and new public parking against a background of a digitally enabled infrastructure.

Construction of phase 1 went on site in November 2019.  Plans are now advancing on Phase 2 which will include further residential units; offices and leisure facilities.

COVID-19 UPDATE:

Work on site has been progressing at a dramatic rate as the Contractor Buckingham has sought new innovative ways of working, that include working in ‘bubbles’ –  that comply with Government working practices. The steel frame for both the arena and one of the new car parks is almost complete and the concrete is well underway for the remaining residential area and the second car park which will support the new coastal park.
