More than 600 residents share feedback on ambitious town centre regeneration plans
Fareham’s third public consultation event concluded in April, attracting significant community interest with more than 600 people attending a series of engagement sessions held at the shopping centre, alongside many others providing feedback online.
Residents, tenants, special interest groups and members of the wider public were invited to meet with the consultant team and council representatives to explore the emerging proposals for the regeneration of Fareham town centre.
Visitors had the opportunity to review 16 informative and interactive display boards outlining the vision for the scheme. Particular interest was shown in the scale model, with many attendees taking the opportunity to speak directly with members of the project team, who were available throughout the events to answer questions and discuss the proposals in detail.
The ambitious regeneration plans aim to transform perceptions of the town centre by delivering an attractive and appropriately scaled retail and parking experience, alongside new homes and enhanced public spaces. Together, these improvements are intended to support the long-term prosperity and vitality of Fareham.
Overall, the proposals received strong support, with many attendees expressing enthusiasm to see the project progress further — particularly regarding the future location of key public services.
The consultation journey will continue later this year, with further public engagement planned ahead of the submission of a planning application in late summer.
