Achievement:

Originally opened in 1993, Castle Quarter served as Norwich’s premier fashion shopping destination. However, with the rise of competing fashion-focused shopping centres and changes in the retail landscape, Castle Quarter’s significance began to fade, leaving its future uncertain. Recognizing an opportunity for transformation, RivingtonHark embarked on a mission to redefine Castle Quarter as the leading lifestyle and social destination in Norwich.

Through targeted investments in rebranding, mall refurbishments, and reconfiguring units, we created an inviting environment for a diverse mix of occupiers. This initiative attracted a varied range of operators, transforming Castle Quarter into a sought-after leisure destination anchored by Vue cinema. Our efforts resulted in leasing deals covering over 100,000 sq.ft, bringing in renowned brands such as Pure Gym and Superbowl, whilst also introducing innovative concepts like Boom Battle Bar, Escape Hunt, Vector VR and Putt Putt Noodle.

In addition to enhancing leisure offerings, we improved the F&B options by converting a former food court into Castle Social, a dynamic venue for street food, live events, and bars. These initiatives boosted the asset’s occupancy rate to an impressive 90%, breathing new life into Castle Quarter.

These leisure attractions complement our strong retail lineup, featuring national occupiers like Boots, TK Maxx, and Starbucks, along with a curated selection of independent retailers. The transformation of Castle Quarter serves as a testament to successfully revitalizing a struggling shopping centre into a vibrant destination where people gather to shop, socialize, and relax, all set against the backdrop of a historic medieval castle.
