Shopping City, Runcorn

Runcorn Shopping City is a 500,000 sq. ft scheme in the heart of the New Town of Runcorn with RivingtonHark acting as Asset Managers.

Shopping City is  the Town centre for Runcorn , providing over  500,000 sq. ft in the heart of the New Town. RivingtonHark  were brought in as Asset Managers to repurpose and regenerate the asset following a significant decline in its income.

Shopping City attracts around 90,000 visitors a week  and is home to over 60 retailers including The Range, Wilko, Argos, Costa, Boots, Superdrug, New Look, Peacocks and Iceland. The centre is also home to a number of independents and has redevelopment of 25,000 sq. ft of prime space available.

The future of the asset is to repurpose it towards a significantly more diverse mix of uses that better serve the local community. Working with a range of stakeholders including the Local Authority; NHS; Police and National Garden Centre plans are progressing well.

COVID-19 Update:

Throughout the Covid-19 lockdown Shopping City has continued to serve the community with 17 “essential” retailers trading throughout. From 15th June and as part of the easing of Government restrictions “non essential” retailers will be reopening. Our centre management team has put together a comprehensive plan on site to give shoppers every reassurance that they can visit and spend time at Shopping City safely.

The health and safety of our shoppers, retailer staff and centre staff is the utmost priority and Shopping City will provide social distancing guidance and high standards of hygiene around the centre to achieve this. As part of our plan we are doing the following:

  • We have in place a one way system within the Centre with a keep left policy when walking around the Centre; vinyl markers have been stuck to the floor to enable social distancing and enabling shoppers to keep 2 metres apart
  • Monitoring the number of shoppers in Shopping City to ensure there is a safe number at all times
  • 2 car parks are open offering up to 1100 parking spaces with disabled parking, infant and parent spaces along with 2 electronic car charging spaces for electric powered cars
  • All public walkways are accessible along with access to both bus stations
  • We are asking if you can please pay by card or contactless were possible
  • We have increased Covid cleaning measures in place with anti-bacterial cleaning materials used
  • Reduced Public toilets access remain open and available with social distancing measures in place
  • Hand sanitizer stations are available within the centre and retail stores where baskets and trolleys are used and available

Not all stores will necessarily be open immediately or may have reduced hours, so visitors are asked to check with stores or the Centre website before they make a special trip.
