Newcastle City Centre
A £40M+ capital works programme to transform the city centre.
The City Centre Transformation Programme (CCTP) will deliver a cleaner, greener heart of the city benefiting its people for generations to come. It seeks to create a unique European destination for tourism and business, attracting further investment and allowing Newcastle to continue to grow. The programme focuses on a collective of prominent streets and spaces that will provide a different role and function within the city centre.
RivingtonHark is appointed by Newcastle City Council to provide strategic commercial leadership to the programme and wider placemaking expertise. We are working closely alongside other key stakeholders including NE1; the Universities; Fenwick and John Lewis, to deliver this phased transformation. Following public and stakeholder consultation and the securing of over 50% of the costs, through various funding grants, the first phase of physical works commenced in January 2022 with major works to Northumberland Street and Grey Street commencing later in the year.
